SPEAKER BIO
Jake has directly supported students with disabilities and their families in various roles in special education for the last 15 years. His roles have included paraeducator, school social worker, behavior consultant, and in his current role as a coordinator in special education for Iowa City Community School District. His current focus is helping to coordinate the district's tier 3 social-emotional behavioral health (SEBH) services. It specializes in designing and implementing complex behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students with IEPs. He found his love for working with individuals with disabilities when he served as a practicum student conducting functional behavior assessments with students with significant disabilities and seeing the profound effects that positive, student-centered intervention plans have on impacting students and their families. In his free time, Jake enjoys discussing anything related to SEBH in schools, golfing, spending time with his wife and two kids, and traveling with friends and family.
